About the Site

This site started near the end of the winter of 2009. Spring started to come and I started looking for a new hoodie for myself and my girlfriend. I quickly became frustrated at the challenge I encountered trying to find something worth wearing. I'm not the most fashionable guy, but there's not a chance that you'll catch me wearing an emo zip-up.  After getting lucky and finding a nice one that was actually reasonably priced, I decided to start up a directory for hardcore music.

The site seems like the best way for me to give a little back to a community that has given me so much.

About Me

First off, I'm not your typical hardcore kid, for the simple reason that I'm definitely not a kid. If you've ever seen a(n almost) forty year old  at a punk rock show in Chicago, you may have seen me.

I've been listening to hardcore and punk rock for over twenty five years and have been fortunate to have seen some amazing shows and incredible noise. From Schism, Gorilla Biscuits, Chain of Strength, Soulside, Murphy's Law and a thousand more I was lucky to be growing up during the eighties and have parents that encourage me to explore the sXe lifestyle. For some reason they even thought that is was okay for me to go on tour with NoFx during the S&M Airlines tour.

During the nineties I didn't attend many shows and lived vicariously through 7"s and albums. At the turn of the millenium and got divorced and moved to Chicago. It was exciting to have the time and energy to go to shows again. As the years have passed and I've gotten older the number of shows that I've witness has shrunk but my love for hardcore continues to grow. Hardly a day goes by without listening to at least a little hardcore.

I tend to get annoyed with most of the new stuff but occasionally something amazing comes along to pull me away from my old records.

Improved Record Label Directory - Monday, July 06, 2009

Take a look at our new and improved label directory. We've rewritten the listings in order to make the listing easier to read. Look for more improvements over the next few weeks.

Version 2.0 - Sunday, June 28, 2009

We've made a lot of changes and hopefully the site is a little easier to read. The main changes that we made were:

  • Added releases to the right of the home page
  • Added a new section for Featured Bands
  • Improved the directory of releases
  • Enhance the In the New section.

Thanks for all of the feedback and suggestions. We're starting to work on them now and should have more band information, city resources and vegetarian information added by the end of July. If there's something else that you would like to see or if you'd like to help out let us know.

The goal of this site is to provide as a reference to all things hardcore with an emphasis on straight edge music. Thanks for visiting and please let us know what you think and what you would like to see on the site.

And, yes, we know the logo is ugly. Feel free to make a new one and send it to us.
